Position available: Postdoctoral fellowship for GOING-FWD study (Research Institute of the McGill University Health Center and University of Ottawa)

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Center and University of Ottawa are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work in the Gender Outcomes International Group: to Further Well-being Development (GOING-FWD) Study under the supervision of Dr. Khaled El-Emam and co-supervision of Dr. Louise Pilote.

The overarching aims of this project are to integrate sex and gender dimensions in applied health research, to evaluate their impact on clinical cost-sensitive outcomes and patients reported outcomes related to quality of life in noncommunicable diseases including cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, chronic kidney disease and neurological disease. The project will be based on a five-country transatlantic network involving 30 investigators.

Big data scientific analytic approaches such as machine learning will be used to analyze the large data sets. The Post-Doc Trainee will need the technical skills to manage the project, set up and run a distributed analysis, and possibly troubleshoot. The candidate will lead the federated analyses and help to overcome the stumbling blocks associate with such analyses when the data cannot be shared. Also, part of the project would be to try different approaches (e.g. data synthesis and compare it to distributed computation).
