Hub and Satellite Format

IBTN International Summer School May 17 to 21, 2021

IBTN is pleased to announce that we will hold the 2021 Summer School edition between May 17 and 21.

Due to the continued concerns around COVID-19, the event will be organized in a “Hub and Satellite” format. This will involve a required central core of events and lectures that all participants attend online (the “Hub”). Then, to manage sessions across various time zones, region-based group events will be held (the “Satellites”). The primary content will be delivered by international experts during the hub sessions and small group projects and presentation work will be conducted during the satellite sessions, with a maximum of 6 individuals per group.

We are now looking for a number Satellite leads.

Satellite leads will be responsible for overseeing a group of no more than 6 individuals. They will meet with the group daily and help them navigate program content and guide them through the required group project and presentation. Satellite leads will also grade final assessments for their group. Satellite lead will be provided with prior training and have access to all the Hub sessions and Summer School materials.

Hub sessions and pre-Summer School training will be conducted in English. Satellite sessions can be conducted in any language.

We foresee Satellite sessions being conducted online with the assistance of the IBTN team. It may be possible to turn these sessions into face-to-face experiences, but only if COVID-19 restrictions permit. For lower and middle-income countries (LMICs), dedicated funds will be available to hold Satellite group meetings face-to-face. These funds would cover travel, accommodation, and food for the participants. There are no funds dedicated for the Satellite leads.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Satellite lead, or if you would like more information about the 2021 Summer School, contact Liza Perez by November 25.
